Beyond the Label

Barrel-aged in fine French oak and deliciously dark with bramble fruit flavors, Altos de la Guardia Reserva hails from a very special boutique winery in the heart of Rioja—where you have insider access.

The estate was built from the ground up by Haut-Brion-trained Jean-Marc Sauboua, who took on the project as a labor of love where he could really stretch his creative legs. After just a few years of being an established bodega, Altos de la Guardia has won a staggering number of local and international awards for its wines—including the Spain’s Best Producer title at the International Wine & Spirit Competition.

This pure Tempranillo, harvested from the estate’s oldest vineyards in the premium Alavesa district, gives you a taste of Jean-Marc’s trademark style: powerful, elegant and with an undeniable finesse (clearly you learn a thing or three when you hone your craft at a world-renowned château).

There’s no doubt this is a very special bottle for lovers of fine Spanish reds—aged to perfection and just waiting to be opened and served with roast lamb or pork. (Tip: we suggest decanting the wine 30 minutes or so before you plan to enjoy. This will open up those beautiful aromas and flavors and really enhance your whole experience.)
