Flavor Profile

Beyond the label

Marlborough may be New Zealand’s most famous Sauvignon Blanc region, but these days, its neighbor Nelson is also turning heads with its world-class whites. Just wait until you taste this exhilarating Brightwater Sauvignon Blanc.

The pioneering Gary and Valley Neale have been helping to put Nelson on the fine wine map since 1999. “We are not a slice of Tuscany or Provence. We are Nelson, New Zealand, and proud of it,” says Gary. Their vineyards are located on an ancient river terrace not far from the village of Brightwater. Fast-draining soil and cool nights, combined with some of the highest sunshine hours anywhere in the country, provide the optimal growing conditions.

The grapes for this fine white were harvested in individual batches at different stages of ripeness, for an appealing balance of bright fruit flavors and lively acidity. Brightwater Sauvignon Blanc is a fresh and aromatic wine, with wonderful aromas of citrus and gooseberry. The palate offers succulent citrus, melon and passionfruit flavors, plus fine minerality and a vibrant finish.

Word to the wise: After a few fantastic (but small) harvests in 2020 and 2021, high-quality New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is in short supply. So, if you want to enjoy this mouthwatering Sauvignon Blanc, act quickly to secure your share.
