Flavor Profile
Juicy, bold and made for a hearty meal, Canet Rôtie is a deeply flavored red inspired by the famed Côte Rôtie wines of France’s Rhône Valley—and the lively barbecues hosted at Château Canet. Rôtie is French for “roasted,” making the wine's name a nod to both of those traditions and the estate's name (with a cheeky label to match).
Château Canet is a picturesque, sun-soaked property in southern France's Minervois region, lovingly tended by Floris Lemstra and his family. Their vineyards are surrounded by woods filled with wild boars, and dry summers motivate these smart animals to quench their thirst with Floris' grapes before he's had a chance to harvest. So, occasionally, one ends up on a spit—as you’ll see on the label. This is Floris’ go-to wine pairing for their big cookouts—and the bestselling red in their range.
Just like the red wines of Côte Rotie, this is a dark-fruited Syrah blended with a dash of Viognier (a white grape) to give it an elegant floral lift. It’s vibrant, delightful and will pair beautifully with your choice of grilled or smoked meats. Each grape is vinified separately and blended at the end, ensuring maximum character and balance in the final wine.
Ruby-hued and bursting with ripe blackberry and black currant, Canet Rôtie is plush, juicy and has a lovely freshness on the finish (thanks to the Viognier). Serve it with barbecued pork, grilled sausages, smoked brisket—or wild boar if you’re feeling authentic.
Juicy, bold and made for a hearty meal, Canet Rôtie is a deeply flavor...
