Flavor Profile

Beyond the label

Dr. John Forrest is a legend in New Zealand’s famed Marlborough region, celebrated as an early pioneer of the Golden Mile, the original and best vineyard strip. He’s also a two-time Winemaker of the Year and the talent behind many of our best-selling New Zealand wines. He’s crafted this dazzling new rosé with his daughter Beth (that’s them below), an experienced winemaker who’s carrying on the family tradition.

John and Beth sourced the grapes for Field of Stones Marlborough Rosé from three of their family vineyards in Marlborough’s Wairau River Valley. These plots are strewn with stones (hence the wine’s name), which impart a delicious mineral complexity to the wines. They selected mostly Pinot Noir, key to the pretty pink color, with smaller portions of Arneis, Grüner Veltliner and Chenin Blanc. The Forrests were among the first in New Zealand to excel with Arneis and Grüner, and their expertise shows in the glass.

Look forward to delicate aromas of summer fruits, fresh herbs and lemon. The palate is beautifully expressive, with ripe strawberry, red cherry, citrus and hints of that lovely mineral complexity. At only 9.5% ABV, this rosé is wonderfully light and fresh—perfect for brunch or lunch dates.

Rosé wines are always in demand, and New Zealand wines have been harder to come by lately, due to recent low-yielding vintages. Hurry to secure your share of this elegant Marlborough rosé.
