HJ Fabre Malbec Reserva 2021

Flavor Profile
Malbec is Argentina’s star red, and few do it better than Bordeaux native Hervé Fabre. Top critic Andrew Jefford says it best: “There is no Mendoza winery for which I have had more long-term admiration than Fabre Montmayou…[the wines] have had a texture and innate classiness and finesse from the first [sip].”
Crafted from Hervé’s prized, 60-plus-year-old vines and treated to 12 full months in fine French oak barrels, HJ Fabre Malbec Reserva is pure class. Master of Wine Tim Atkin has raved: “it’s very floral and appealing, with a hint of older wood and potpourri and red berry flavors supported by textured tannins.”
Look for a deep ruby color with violet tones. Then, you’re in for intense aromas of red cherries and spices. The palate is complex and well balanced, with vanilla and cocoa notes from the oak, plus a silky finish.
Surprisingly versatile for a full-bodied red, this is a Reserva that can easily take you through a whole meal. From aged cheeses (think Cheddar or Parmesan) and hearty dinners (juicy steaks or roasts)…even dark chocolate desserts (Hervé loves to serve guests of the estate his favorite bittersweet chocolate lava cake). You’ll love serving it to guests, too.
