Flavor Profile
Since 1971, All Things Considered has tackled the biggest stories of the day. Today, millions of Americans tune into NPR's news program for in-depth coverage of world events. This beautifully balanced Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet lives up to the gravity of its namesake with thought-provoking flavors of deep, dark fruit (think blackberry, black cherry, blueberry) framed by notes of vanilla, coffee ad a touch of ginger. It pairs well with great food, great friends and lively conversation.
Want to know a bit more? Winemaker Doug Roosevelt looked beyond California to craft this wine, for many brilliant reasons. Horse Heaven Hills is a special enclave of Washington State's Columbia Valley. A combimation of brilliant sunshine, well-draining alluvial soils and a wide diurnal range (the difference between day and night temperatures) helps grapes develop complex, concentrated flavors without over-ripening. Hilly vineyards and proximity to the Columbia River help moderate temperatures and protect from the threat of frost, too. The warm, windy climate is particularly ideal for Cabernet vines, so all in...it's a magical place to make wine.
“Whether you favor Riesling or Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Syrah, Washington can deliver pure fruit flavors and distinctive character at prices that won’t break the bank," says Wine Spectator.
