Angelo Maci, the talent behind many of our most-loved Italian reds, has (finally!) been bitten by the rosé bug. Just wait until you sink your teeth into Pillastro Rosato – it was worth the wait!
True to form, Angelo (a three-time Vinitaly Winemaker of the Year and head of three-time Southern Italian Winery of the Year, Cantine due Palme) really outdid himself. He started with premium Primitivo, hand harvested in the early morning and gently pressed to achieve just the right shade of vibrant pink.
In the glass, it is positively bursting with ripe red cherry and raspberry flavors. With its faint tinge of sweetness and refreshing lift, Pillastro is a terrific mate for spicy curries, shrimp fra diavolo, or even chipotle rubbed beef ribs (really!). It will also be terrific sipped solo.
As with all our rosé, the sellout risk is high here – especially given the popularity of Angelo’s other wines. Get in now, while there’s still plenty to go ’round.
