Beyond the label

“Chianti Classico is one of the world’s elite regions because of its proven ability to produce pedigreed, age-worthy wines that transmit the essence of site and that develop beautifully in bottle” (Vinous.com). And this might be the most exciting one we’ve ever found...

Our friends Ada and Arrigo Andrighetti (a mother-son team) craft Selva del Moro at their 12th-century estate in prized Castellina. Vines have been cultivated on the property since 1169, and its 17th-century farmhouse was once the local monastery. The Andrighettis marry this history with modern practices—the estate is 100% organically farmed, with a strong focus on sustainability (they even keep their own bees to pollinate the vines).

Ada and Arrigo have also hired legendary winemakers Franco and Matteo Bernabei (a father-son duo) to help out in the cellar. The Bernabeis worked their magic, coaxing out the organically grown Sangiovese and Canaiolo’s perfumed violet and ripe cherry nuances. They also treated the wine to one year in large oak barrels, which imparted toasty spice notes.

A perfect choice for an Italian-style feast. Order your share of this elegant Chianti Classico today.
