Flavor Profile
Yes, France is Sauvignon Blanc’s birthplace, but for all its modern vibrancy, Marlborough, New Zealand, has become “Sauvignon Central.” And nobody does it better than Dr. John Forrest, as you'll taste in the light and tropical, citrus-inflected Stonewall Sauvignon Blanc.
After careers in molecular biology and medicine John and his wife Brigid were some of the first to begin making wine in Renwick, New Zealand, in an area now known as "the Golden Mile" for its excellent Sauvignon Blanc production. Flash forward nearly 40 years, and their work has international attention and the praise of top critics—including recognition as “Winery of the Year” (in 2019) from Wine Marlborough.
Inspired by the striking ‘stone-walled’ entrance their beautiful estate (built from the Wairau River stones that give Marlborough’s best wines their attractive mineral notes), this white offers plenty of inspiration in the glass. It boasts intense aromas and flavors of ripe passion fruit, refreshing citrus zest and black currant leaf.
As top critic Huon Hooke says, “this is about as good as Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc gets.”
The perfect partner for a spread of cheeses, fresh fish and sushi, crisp green salads and more. Be warned though: one sip (or bottle) may not be enough!
