Beyond the label

Every great wine starts in the vineyard, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes have a special advantage. Their thick skins help create beautifully dark, inky colors and intense fruit flavors in the final wine as you’ll enjoy in Thick Skin Cabernet Sauvignon.

It hails from California’s Lodi, “one of the top wine regions in the country,” where winemakers “have quietly started producing some of the state’s best wines” (vinepair.com). In cooler climates, Cabernet’s thick skins can prevent the grapes from ripening. But between Lodi’s brilliant sunshine and the long, warm growing season, Cabernet grapes have plenty of time to reach their flavorful peak. Judges at the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition were so impressed, they awarded it a gold medal

Look forward to rich black currant, blackberry and licorice notes. For maximum enjoyment, decant the wine an hour before serving to open up its complex aromas and soften the texture. Then, pair with roasted meats, barbecued fare or a plate of smoky cheeses.

If Thick Skin came from Napa or Sonoma, it would be twice the price. Act now for your share of this great-value arrival.
